ashley began practicing yoga to supplement her training as a long distance runner. through the years as she recognized the transformative and spiritual components of yoga, her practice became an integrated and devoted part of her daily life. in 2011 ashley completed the first shala teacher training program under the warm and wise guidance of barbara verrochi and kristin leigh. she completed a year long apprenticeship with barbara and draws inspiration from many beloved teachers she’s had the honor to practice with over the years. ashley’s classes are a creative mix of energizing asana, breath awareness, yoga philosophy, music and meditation. in her classes she hopes to extend compassion to help students find their inner strength and serenity.
ashley is also a licensed art psychotherapist in private practice, working with clients of all ages. she also continues to work globally using art therapy, mindfulness, and yoga as alternative methods of healing for trauma survivors. ashley has spent the last 4 years traveling to india for month long studies to practice ashtanga in mysore with sharath jois, learn the ancient art of rangoli drawing, and soak up as much wisdom from india as she can to bring back to her students. she loves to travel whether it’s leading retreats with domenick or at the beach in montauk, all the while, trying to see yoga in the details along the way.
when she’s not at the shala or in her art therapy office you can catch her in fort green running around with her rescue dog soumy.
