New Iyengar Classes with Deidra Demens!

Iyengar | Align 2: Mondays & Fridays
10:30-11:35am
Union Square

Iyengar | Align 2: An open-level class that applies the detailed precision of Iyengar alignment principles to complement the rhythmic breath-movement structure of Vinyasa and Ashtanga practices.

Deidra Demens was introduced to Yoga in 2004. While studying at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago Illinois, Deidra explored various styles of Yoga, movement and breathing exercises as creative ways of expression.

Upon graduating, Deidra moved to New York to follow her dream of becoming a theatre artist. Between shows Deidra continued studying Yoga and began teaching in 2011.

After taking her first Iyengar class, Deidra was amazed at how much she learned in just one class. “I needed a foundation for my practice and teaching, I found it in Iyengar Yoga. The instructions were clear and precise. My interest in Yoga was elevated. My practice transformed, and so my journey began.”

Deidra enrolled in the Teacher Training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York and became certified at Intro I/ II level in November 2017. Deidra continues to study with her primary teachers Lara Warren (her mentor) and James Murphy; she is grateful for their support and inspiration. Deidra’s approach to teaching is focused and fun, her classes are energetic and engaging. Through demonstration and detailed alignment Deidra seeks to both challenge and inspire her students.

Summer Astrology Immersion With Sherene Vismaya Schostak

Celestial Cycles and Self-Care: Summer Astrology Immersion
with Sherene Vismaya Schostak
Sherenevismaya.com

Monday, July 16th – Fort Greene
6:30-8:00pm |$39

This summer brings three eclipses back to back. In this workshop we will learn how to harmonize and find inner shelter under this stormy star influence. The July-August eclipses are opening a portal to the Divine Feminine/Divine Mother energies within. How can we honor these potent shifts without getting pulled into the shadow energies of fear, shame, and blame? How can we collectively cleanse and pierce the illusory veils of false power and heal patriarchal patterns deeply embedded in our bodies and psyches?

In this first workshop, we will discuss the themes that will be relevant all summer, including:

  • The signs that will be most affected: Cancer, Capricorn, Leo, Aquarius (we all have these somewhere in our horoscope)
  • All of the retrograde planets, their influence on our inner world, and how to work with them.
  • Neptune Rx:  in Pisces: Dreams, Illusions, Addictions
  • Saturn in Capricorn: Time, Discipline, Integrity
  • Mars in Retrograde in Aquarius means revamping our relationship to: Work, Long-term goals, Community, Friendships, Technology
